Sewing Project

The sewing department has assisted multiple individuals from the rural areas of KwaZulu Natal infiltrate the fashion industry. Sewing instructors are trained in a manner that they assist their learners in their personal and social development as well. We ensure that skilled personnel are available in their communities to offer guidance and training they could have never potentially been exposed to. Communities are introduced into entrepreneurship which leads to job creation and economic growth. The sewing department has assisted learners save money, connected them to each other, improved their confidence level, offered them a tool where they can express their talents and kept them motivated. Through the sewing projects, school uniforms, designer wear, church regalia, bags, curtains etc. are supplied to big organizations and individuals. They are given an opportunity to earn a living.
Thanks to Sister Teressa’s initiative, there were sewing groups in 18 villages by the end of 2022. For the training, all sewing groups were provided with the necessary sewing utensils which includes sewing machines, fabric, scissors, marking aids, irons, ironing boards and sturdy tables and chairs.
