Chameleon’s Donation to Mondlo

Two groups in Mondlo received sewing lessons. Mondlo is a rural area in the North of KwaZulu Natal. Mondlo is a semi-rural area that is known for crime. Yebozululand’s aim in upskilling the area of Mondlo was to strengthen the community, reduce crime, increase social bonds, promote entrepreneurship and shift their focus into positive action. Chameleon donated a sewing machine, pattern maker and an Italian Pattern Making Book to the group in Mondlo. They previously used one of the participant’s pattern maker which meant they did not have one specifically for the group. They did not have enough sewing machines to work with. Chameleon’s donation will motivate them to persist even with the challenges they are faced with. Upon doing evaluations in the year 2023, it was discovered that the group did not have enough resources to supply goods in large bulks. Their goals of increasing their supply will be realized thanks to the increasing number of resources donated by Chameleon.

Mondlo group designs clothes for members of their community. They also make church regalias and looking to expand as a group. They have had issues in the past that has interrupted their operation but has never deterred them from persevering.
